MHA Governance
We hope that this section of our website will help you to understand MHA’s legal status and how it is managed.
- We are a charity, registered by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR). Our registration number is SCO12306.
- Our governing body is our Board of Directors.
- Our Directors, who are all unpaid, come from various walks of life and bring a wide range of skills and experience to their roles.
- There are currently 12 Directors.
- The following sub-groups of the Board of Directors have recently been established:
1. Counselling Services
2. Residential & Day Services, Housing Support Services
3. Policy & Campaigning, Fundraising & Publicity
4. Finance, Governance, Employment & HR Issues and Quality Assurance
- These sub–groups comprise both current members of the Board of Directors and other individuals co-opted for their knowledge, skills and experience.
- Service users and carers are included in these groups, contributing their own unique experience and skills.
- The Board are committed to include service users and carers as full Board members after gaining experience and building confidence at sub-group level in the first instance.
- The views of service users are also heard through the recently established MHA People’s Services Forum.
- We meet the requirements of a number of regulators and our legal duties: our Annual Reports and Accounts can be found elsewhere on this website, or can be obtained from our Head Office.
- We have an equal opportunities policy and take its implementation very seriously.
