MHA Housing Support offices have a city centre location. The project provides support to many people in their own tenancies across Aberdeen.
The main objectives of the project are to:
- provide individually tailored support
- assist clients to maintain a secure foundation on which to build quality of life
- recognise the need for personal privacy and confidentiality and to treat clients with respect at all times
- encourage clients to develop community links and to maintain independence
- ensure that the service provided is subject to continual review to accommodate changing needs
- provide as flexible a service as possible
- promote user involvement through all aspects of their care
Housing Support
Housing support is ideal for a tenant who chooses to live independently but may require some support or assistance to enable them to sustain their tenancy.
Staff
Each tenant is appointed a dedicated support worker who visits regularly. Support workers provide both practical and emotional support.
Tenants
Tenants should be able to manage on a more limited level of support than that provided by a 24 hour residential project.
They will be involved with a support worker in drawing up a support plan. Tenants will also be working together with their support workers to further develop their daily living skills and address any areas of difficulty.
Referrals
Unfortunately, due to the way we are funded by the local authority, we currently cannot accept any referrals to this service.
Management Structure
The project Manager is supported by the Chief Executive of MHA. The Board of Directors of Mental Health Aberdeen meets regularly for an update briefing on the project and to approve policies for the project’s continued efficient operation.
MHA Housing Support adheres strictly to an anti-discriminatory and equal opportunities policy.
