User Involvement Services for Carers Counselling/Information Community Support Policy & Campaigns
23-29 October 2010
All monies raised will go MHA and its projects.
You can support the work of MHA by sponsoring volunteer Bea Fyvie on her Trek of the Great Wall.

My name is Bea Fyvie and this coming October sees me heading to China to embark upon - what will be for me - the most physically and mentally demanding "challenge of a life time".
I have been associated with MHA as a counselling volunteer for a number of years, currently I am at One To One Counselling Deeside where I also use some of my time as a fund raiser, but can often times be found in head office helping out as a 'spare pair of hands' with all aspects of work from statistical evaluation to filing, to typing (and, as most junior colleague, of course I make the coffee!!)
For my latest fundraising venture and to help plug some serious 'funding holes' in budgets, I decided to put myself through this gruelling 6 days of trekking on one of the world's most identifiable landmarks. I am funding my journey myself and therefore what we can raise together will all go towards helping to finance the continuation of free services offered to the people of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
TO THIS END I AM LOOKING TO YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY FOR SPONSORSHIP!
As this is likely to be a "once in a lifetime experience" for me I am happy to finance all costs involved personally. Two years ago I suffered a heart attack, at a fairly tender age of not yet '50' and I am now ever more determined not to waste (almost) any opportunity that presents itself and will be proud to accomplish this monumental task in the name of Mental Health Aberdeen.
During my time on the Wall I will have to climb thousands of steps, reach heights of over 700 meters above sea level and will encounter many of the magnificent watchtowers, on paths at times no more than 2-3 meters wide. I expect the views to be among the most stunning I will ever experience and I will count myself very lucky to be there with each and every step, knowing that I won't be the only one to reap rewards.
The level of professionalism MHA provides in the care of the people in our communities who suffer mental health problems is worthy of any and all effort to ensure that MHA continues to prosper.
